Welcome New Students!

The Norse News Network, or N3 as it is commonly called, is your weekly update about important events and activities for NKU students. N3 will be delivered to you each week through your NKU email account. This newsletter is provided by the Office of Student Life located in Suite 303 of the Student Union. We can be reached at studentlife@nku.edu or by calling 859.572.6514 or check us out at http://studentlife.nku.edu. We hope that you will seek out opportunities to learn outside of the classroom by joining a student organization, or participating in programs around campus. We are here to assist you in having a great college experience! Get out your calendar and read on to see what is going on!

Returning Students – Please Note

You may have received a message yesterday stating you had been unsubscribed! Well, you were momentarily while we repopulated the list with Fall 2009 enrolled students. Hundreds of emails came back asking to be re-subscribed to this list and we were not able to answer them all. So this message and this email should confirm for you that you are back on the list. We are thrilled to know and hear of how helpful this newsletter is to you!

Freshman Service Leadership Committee

Attention Freshmen looking to make a difference at NKU! The Northern Kentucky Leadership Institute would like to invite all freshman students who are interested in leadership development and community service to join the Freshman Service Leadership Committee. This is a freshman-based student organization dedicated to the development of leadership through service. Through both the fall and spring semesters at NKU, FSLC members can be seen throughout campus. Whether it be working fundraisers for one of their upcoming events or showing off their skills at NKU’s Service on Saturday, FSLC members are dedicated to giving back to the community. This organization plans monthly on and off campus community service events. This is also a great way to meet other students and to build your resume! Please join us at our social on Wednesday, September 9 from 3:30-5:00 at the Volleyball Pavilion. Please RSVP to Rebekah James at rebekah.james@kycompact.org. The first FSLC meeting will be Wednesday, September 16 at 2:00 pm in UC 104.

Save the Dates: Fall Student Organization Orientations

As a requirement, all Registered Student Organizations are required to send one representative to one of the following Fall Orientations. Organizations failing to send a representative to an orientation will result in the withdrawal of the group’s registration status. This will prevent the group from accessing University funds, securing rooms in the Student Union, and use of Student Life resources.

The Fall 2009 Student Organization Orientations are:

September 14 @ 3 pm

September 15 @ 12:15 and 5 pm

September 16 @ 1 pm

September 17 @ 2 pm

September 18 @ 12 pm

All orientations will take place in SU 302.

First Student Organization Board Meeting

This is a friendly reminder that the first Student Organization Board meeting is on Thursday, September 3 at 12:15 in SU 104. All organizations should send one representative to this meeting to gather important information for the year including student organization orientations, funding opportunities, and learn what is new in Student Life. The Student Government Association and the Northern Kentucky Leadership Institute will provide lunch at this meeting. Please RSVP by Friday, August 28 to mayset@nku.edu.
