Meet NKU's Own Josh Sneed

On Campus Nov. 9
Student Union Multi-Purpose Room (Behind the Game Room)

He's talked about his love of flea markets and his hate for collectible buckets of Kentucky Fried Chicken. He's made fun of Jessica Simpson, various ex-girlfriends and even his little cousin (who watches Bob the Builder and listens to rap music).

He's also discovered the greatest lie about women: They say they want a funny guy. He says he's proof that they in fact do not want a funny guy.

Meet Josh Sneed, one-time NKU student and Cincinnati native. Sneed - who has opened for acts like Dane Cook, Dave Chapelle and Lewis Black before earning enough exposure to headline his own shows - is ready to return to NKU for the first time, as host of Last Norse Standing, NKU's search for the best local comedian. Join him from noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 9 in the Student Union ballroom.

Sneed did have a cozy day job in the tech department at Procter & Gamble before he quit to chase his dream of making people laugh. In 2004, he performed at the Just For Laugh's Montreal Comedy Festival in the "New Faces of Comedy" group, one of the highest honors that a comedian at his level can achieve.  Josh has also be seen performing in large venue theaters across the country as an opening act for the various members of "The Blue Collar Comedy Tour", and has made several appearances on "The Bob & Tom Show."

In 2006 he finished sixth out of 2,000 in a national comedy contest. By March 2007 he had earned his first 30-minute special on Comedy Central, and in 2008 he finished as the runner-up (to Jeff Dunham) in Comedy Central's annual Stand-Up Showdown. His performance earned him a record deal with Comedy Central's label, and his first comedy CD, "Unacceptable," debuted in September, 2008.

So what's his secret?

"I'm a big people watcher," Sneed says. "I enjoy sitting around with someone I love and talking about the human trash that walks by."
